RICHARD RANDOLPH
Saxophonist Richard Randolph hails from Youngstown, Ohio. He began studying the saxophone at the age of twelve. Coming from a musical family, Mr. Randolph was inspired by his sister Dr. Charsie Randolph Sawyer and his music teachers to seriously develop his talent. Later, while in High School, his sister introduced him to music professor Don Bartholomew at Youngstown State University, where he began to study jazz fundamentals.
Richard gets his inspiration for playing jazz from saxophonists such as the late Jazz Legends: John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly, Grover Washington Jr and Art Porter; as well as Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Everette Harp, Kenny Garrett and others.
Having his roots in gospel, Richard has shared the stage with the Hawkins Family, Andre Crouch, Shirley Caesar, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Marvin Sapp, Ben Tankard, Hubert Powell, Rance Allen, Jennifer Holiday and John P. Kee. He has also done recordings with Kenny Eldridge & the Celebration Choir, Higher Ground Community Choir, and other local artists. He has played with groups such as Spirit , and many other jazz, gospel, R&B bands and local theatrical productions. Mr. Randolph’s soulful sound leaves audiences marveling at his God-given talent.
